A Vision for Our School’s Future, Led by Our Parent Community
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope this message finds you well. We write as fellow parents to share an important and inspiring
development regarding the future of our school, that places our children’s education, wellbeing, and long-term
success at its heart.
A group of committed parents, each with significant professional expertise across education, finance,
governance, legal affairs, and organisational leadership, has come together to explore the opportunity of
transitioning our school to a charitable trust under community stewardship. This model empowers those who
care most - the families and staff - to have a direct and accountable role in shaping the school's future.
Our motivation stems from a desire to ensure the school remains rooted in its values while adapting to the
challenges ahead. We believe that placing the school into a charitable trust managed by parents and
professionals from our own community offers the most sustainable, transparent, and effective path forward. It
will ensure decision-making is both rigorous and responsive, driven by evidence, accountability, and the highest
standards.
Our Approach
Though the announcement was received only this past Monday, this initiative is grounded in thorough analysis
and planning. Over recent days, we have:
• Engaged education and legal experts to assess feasibility and regulatory pathways
• Conducted thorough financial analysis leading us to believe, through a change in ownership model, that
in its present state the school has a viable, long-term future further enhanced when the present lack
of year 4 works its way through the school
• Studied successful models of community-led trusts in similar contexts
• Outlined a vision that preserves the school’s ethos while enhancing outcomes
Every decision has been guided by one principle: what is in the best long-term interest of our children and their
education.
Your Input
To move forward quickly and effectively, we need your help. We are all parents of children at Kingscourt, but
need to ensure we fully reflect your views on the time ahead of us and the decisions we all need to make for the
future of those children. We have created a parent survey available at https://forms.office.com/r/nQg3tNuKKd
and would appreciate your contribution there.
What’s Next?
We have created a website – www.friendsofkingscourt.org – where we will make future updates as we learn
more.
Additionally, we will hold an open meeting at the school this Friday 9th May at 3pm, where we’ll share our plans
in more detail, answer your questions, and invite your views. This school belongs to all of us and it is essential
that this process reflects our collective voice and values.
We are excited about the potential ahead and deeply committed to delivering a school environment that is
safe, ambitious, inclusive, and governed with integrity. We look forward to speaking with you soon and
building this future together.
